The MSc in Disability Studies offers students an insight into disability from social, historical, cultural, economic and political perspectives and is said to equip students with the knowledge, analytical skills and insight to translate rights into reality in the field of disability both nationally and internationally.

Dr Christine Linehan, Director of NIID said: “The National Institute for Intellectual Disability is delighted to celebrate the graduation of our first cohort of graduates on the M.Sc. in Disability Studies. The knowledge and skills obtained by our graduates is particularly important at this time of tremendous change in disability policy and practice at both national and international level. Our graduates are very well placed to drive this change agenda and transform the disability landscape”.

The NIID will be represented in our final Kanchi Network event of the year on the 19th of this month hosted by Citi which focuses on Engagement and Well Being – with up to 64 percent of attendees at the Kanchi business networking events saying they would like to change policies in their organisations after hearing from the speakers at each event, the Kanchi Network is developing a successful track record of leveraging business mindsets to transform the way people think about disability by working with our partners and showcasing the innovative initiatives that are being kick started here from Ireland.

HR Director for Citi Ireland Cecilia Ronan will also be speaking at this event about the importance of Engagement, diversity and disability within a business.
